DCI MySite Supports Selectra Company´s Expansion (30.04.2007)

DCI MySite - internal logistics management system will control logistics processes in a new warehouse of the Czech logistics business.

Pilsen, May 4, 2007: The Selectra Company, a provider of logistics, transport and warehousing services has opted for a new information system that ensures the management of internal logistics processes. DCI MySite system by Aimtec has won the tender. It is going to support and control all logistics processes in the new storage area in the Lovosice industry zone. The DCI MySite logistics system employing goods and storage location identification technology based on bar codes will support all storage processes, from goods receipt, recording to final picking and shipping exactly according to specific requirements of customers and different branches. The main motive for implementing the DCI MySite system is to achieve exact and actual overview of warehouse stock balance, and hence to increase the quality of warehousing services significantly.

Selectra is a 100% Czech company established in 1994. The main activities of the company focus on domestic and international goods forwarding services and logistics. Selectra provides truck, air and ship transport to a number of countries all over the world. It also provides related services, as customs clearance, insurance and warehousing services. Especially the area of goods warehousing has been developing significantly since the foundation of the company. During the first years of its existence, Selectra used had storage areas only, which led to a limited offer of warehouse services. Currently, however, the company uses its own larger storage areas in Rokycany (Pilsen Region). The continually increasing requirements of customers made Selectra to invest additional financial means in this area. This development resulted in a decision (end of 2005) to expand the business substantially. The expansion concerns the construction of new logistics premises in the Lovosice industry zone and also related investments in latest information and telecommunication technologies. One of these investments is the purchase of a new information system that shall support and manage internal logistics processes in the new warehouse. For this reason the Selectra management has announced a tender, to which were invited the Aimtec Company with its own DCI MySite logistics solution and NAVISYS Company, the current supplier of information systems to Selectra.

DCI MySite - logistics information system by Aimtec succeeded in the tender. The system shall ensure on-line control over goods movements in the new warehouse area. DCI MySite was selected primarily thanks to practical demonstrations of system functionalities during reference visits, when Selectra representatives ascertained the benefits of DCI MySite implementation. The aim of the new system implementation is to ensure efficient and perfect operation of the new warehouse, and, especially to implement automated control and recording of warehouse processes by means of bar code technology and RF terminals. An important attribute of the system is represented by its ability to accommodate to varying requirements of customers ranging from different branches. The requirements concern specific logistics and warehousing processes and services, and preparedness for operative changes in case new clients are won. Thanks to clear identification of every package, Selectra will have the possibility to perform interim and complete warehouse stocktaking under full operation. Upon goods picking, the system will watch over FIFO rule adherence. For the future, provisions are made to apply RFID technology that is also supported by the DCI MySite system, and with the ensurance of EDI communication with customers.
